Mr. Ross Coker Johnston's Obituary
Ross Coker Johnston went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 15, 2024.
Coke was born in Quanah, Texas on April 2, 1950 - son of Ross Johnston and Helen Alma Coker.
He graduated from Quanah High School in 1968 and attended the University of Texas upon graduation.
He graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a bachelor's in science in Pharmacy in 1975. Coke worked as a pharmacist in Lubbock as a staff pharmacist, pharmacy manager and board certified (BCOP) oncology pharmacist.
Coke married Tricia Johnston in 1977 and they had a daughter (Courtney) in 1985.
During this time-he went back to school and received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2003. He also sat for examination and received his National Board Certification in Oncology in 1999.
In 2007-Coke began working in the pharmaceutical industry as a Medical Science Liaison. He would visit with oncologists around the United States to inform them of the research trials that were available for their patients. Coke provided leadership in staff training, educational resources to academic centers, served as clinical trial information source to Advisory Boards. Coke also taught pharmacy classes at the Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
Coke was recognized and honored by his teammates at a national meeting for being an expert in his field and an encourager to them. Coke retired in July 2016.
Coke and Tricia have attended Parkway Hills Baptist Church in Plano, Texas since July 2018. Coke became a believer in Jesus Christ in the 5th grade. Coke loved spending time with his family-especially his two granddaughters (Natalie & Laura).
They brought such joy and deeply loved him.
Coke loved to read, watch football games (especially the college games), and play his guitar (especially with his friends from Quanah).
Coke is survived by his wife of 47 years, Tricia Johnston of Plano, Texas; daughter Courtney Thomason (Jimmy); granddaughters Natalie and Laura Thomason of Frisco Texas; sister Lois Davis (Mike) of Quanah, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
