Rowland Stanley Giller II's Obituary
Rowland “Ron” S Giller II, 77, of Dallas, Texas passed away Monday, April 3, 2017. He was born on March 2, 1940 in Columbus, Ohio and was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Rose (Philpot) Giller, daughter, Mary Clara Giller; brother, Michael Giller and parents, Rowland Stanley Giller and Mary Elizabeth (Cotter) Giller. Ron is survived by his loving daughter Alyson Giller (New York City) and grand-puppy Lulu. Ron had a gift for gab and was an accomplished salesman who found his love for printing at Heritage Press. He went on to co-found Republic Press and start his own firm Giller Printing. His clients included some of the biggest advertising and public relations firm in NYC which created a love for the city. He and Yvonne would frequently travel there with friends to enjoy the culture, stage and of course food. He continued yearly visits to see his daughter for Christmas and returned from his last visit in early January 2017. Ron was proud of his Irish heritage, St. Xavier High school, being a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity at the University of Cincinnati, serving his country in the US Army, his adopted home in Dallas, Texas (almost 50 years as a Texan), his accomplished wife Yvonne, his loving daughter Alyson, his companion Leslyn Kirkpatrick (deceased), his ability to spin an amazing yarn, and his lifelong friendships. Ron enjoyed hunting, cooking (especially chili, a mean breakfast and bananas foster), making moonshine, and hanging with his buddies around the fire pit at the hunting lease. Ron will be truly missed by so many who were blessed to have him in their lives. Memorial services will be held on Thursday April 6, 2017 at 3:00 PM in the Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home followed by a wake at Midway Point – 14831 Midway Road, Addison, Texas 75001 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
