Roy Lester Allen's Obituary
Roy Lester Allen, born January 8, 1926 in Boynton, Muskogee County, Oklahoma to William Jefferson and Lucille Ellen Camden Allen. A Valedictorian at Boynton High School; served in the US Navy for three years as a teenager in World War II; degree in Industrial Engineering, Oklahoma State University; Industrial Engineering and Management positions with Phillips Petroleum and Rockwell prior to being appointed the first Director, Department of Data Services for City of Dallas. National President Institute of Industrial Engineers; Registered Professional Engineer (Texas); Contributing Author “Handbook of Industrial Engineering” third edition; Listed in the “Who’s Who in Science & Engineering” 1998; member Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society; served on Oklahoma State Industrial Engineering Advisory Committee. At Schreiber United Methodist Church in Dallas: Lay Leader, Annual Conference Lay Delegate, Chairman- Administrative Board, leadership roles in Missions, Evangelism and Worship.Survived by son, Robert and wife, Lynne and their children: Zach and wife, Sam, Katy and husband Logan and grandson, Cash; daughter, Susan Laird and her children: Jennifer, John and wife, Jackie and Anthony and wife, Daniele; grandchildren: Talon, Shaylynn, Blake, Matthew and Micah and his niece, Lee Ann and husband, Steve and their children: J.D. and Stephanie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine; son, John Ritter and sister, Billie Jean Ward.Visitation will be Tuesday, December 3, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Restland Funeral Home. Service will follow on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at 10:00 in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Burial will occur in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
