Roy Dwight Amerson's Obituary
Roy Dwight Amerson was born January 3, 1943 at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Lubbock, TX and passed away March 3, 2020 at his home after a long illness. His family is so thankful for all the prayers. They especially would like to thank all of the employees of Hospice Plus. Dwight’s family, church and the small town of Petersburg, TX helped to raise a fine man. After graduating high school, he attended Jessie Lee Beauty School in Lubbock, TX and worked in this field for a short time before entering the Army, where he did his basic training in Fort Polk, LA. After training at several posts, Dwight was sent to Qui Nhon, Vietnam as a medic. After returning to the United States, he moved to Dallas and started his hair styling career again at Northpark’s JC Penney Salon where he worked for 38 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Raymon and Eva Leona Amerson; two older brothers, John Ray and George William Amerson. He is survived by three sisters: Ruby Leona Embry of Lubbock, TX, Eva Loue Brula and her husband, Mike of Schertz, TX, and Glenda Sue Ware and her husband, Bill of Arlington, TX; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday, March 8, 2020 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, TX. Graveside services will be Monday, March 9, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to cancer research or a charity of your choice.
