Roy Ernest Brandon's Obituary
Roy Ernest Brandon was born on January 18, 1947 to Billy Tom Brandon and Opal Inez Bailey in Dallas, Texas. Roy grew up in Oak Cliff along with his parents and big sister Billie Sue. As a young boy, Roy got his love for cars, trucks, motorcycles and anything fast and dangerous from his Daddy, a love that followed him into his adulthood. Roy also loved horses, dogs, and animals. Roy had a way with animals; if his children had have been as well-trained as his animals, he would have had a lot less stress! Roy was a man of many talents. In 1981, Roy and his wife Kathy started a trailer tire repair business, K & R Repair Service, Inc. in Houston, Texas. Two and a half years later he expanded the business to Dallas. It was only a short time later the business had grown to a semi-trailer and tire repair company with locations in Houston, San Antonio, El Paso and Dallas. Roy was known among his peers to be a man of integrity and honesty and built his company on these principles. He had such a generous, caring heart. Numerous times people would walk through the doors of K & R Repair Service in need, and they were never turned away. The employees even named the company softball team “Second Chance” because that was what K & R Repair Service was all about, truly reflecting Roy’s generous spirit. He believed that treating others the way that you would want to be treated should extend from the employees to the most valued customer. Roy married Kathy Lynn Fox on February 14, 1981 and began a 36-year journey of love, laughter, and adventures. Roy and Kathy have traveled the USA from coast to coast in an RV coach. Some of Roy’s favorite stops were Monument Valley, Utah; Grand Canyon and Tombstone Arizona; Crater Lake, Oregon; Colorado; Destin, Florida. And one of his favorite vacation spots off of the mainland was Hawaii. Roy loved scuba diving and snorkeling, shooting guns and bows and the great outdoors. Roy had three children that he loved and cherished. Jamie Avis and her husband Chris; Jennifer Stokes and her husband Harold; Billy Brandon and his wife Debra. Roy had 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren that loved their PawPaw or G-Paw and have a wonderful legacy to carry on. Roy humbly demonstrated Christ’s love to everyone he meant, and this demonstration was the natural out-pour of his life. It was not an attribute that was forced – it was an attribute that was simply stitched into the fiber of his character. His family and those who knew him are blessed for having known him. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. The funeral service for Roy will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home at 2:30 PM with Billy Brandon and Harold Stokes officiating. Pallbearers will be Ashur Warner, Ricky Moore, Scott Elliott, Matt Elliott, Andrew Schomin and Justin Brown. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
