Roy Howell Mason's Obituary
Roy Howell Mason was born on December 4, 1929 in Roxton, Texas and passed away July 24, 2022 in Dallas, Texas.
Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 2:00pm in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243.
Born to Rosser and Clyde Mason, Roy was raised in Roxton along with his three brothers Melvin, Jack and his twin brother Troy. It was a loving and nurturing home where Roy worked hard at school and seemed to always have a job. He also met, grew up and married wife of 69 years, Joyce Springer.
He graduated from East Texas State University before serving in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Most of Roy's professional career was spent in the Jewelry Industry. He was an invaluable employee at Sterling Jewelry and Fine Gifts in Dallas for 42 years and then Bachendorf's Jewelers for 23 years.
When not at work, he was a devoted Christian and a family man. Roy and Joyce provided their own loving home for their children Michael and Karen. He was also heavily involved at Lakewood Baptist Church and spent many years there as a Deacon and Treasurer.
As his children grew up and married, Roy made a point to make sure his daughter-in-law and son-in-law felt his love and were welcomed into the family. Soon his favorite pastime, family, extended to include his 4 greandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Roy's kindness, love and generosity will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. Roy will be sorely missed but we can all take comfort in knowing he is with his Heavenly Father.
