Roy E. McKinney Jr.'s Obituary
Roy E. McKinney, Jr. of Plano, TX went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2017. He passed peacefully in his sleep, after suffering a fall a week prior. Roy was born on April 14, 1922 in San Angelo, TX of Beatrice and Roy McKinney, Sr. Roy enjoyed a wonderful life with his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Lee McKinney, who passed in 1996. In 1998, Roy married Joci James of Plano, who was his wife until his passing. Roy had a verve for life and never met a stranger. His business career was launched at Neiman-Marcus and took him to all of the major cities in the U. S. as the National Sales Manager for Susan Crane, a custom gift wrapping supplier to the major retailers in America during the 1960’s. Roy also had an entrepreneurial side and owned several gift wrap manufacturing companies in the 1950’s through 1990’s. He was an inspiration and mentor to many young salesmen during his career. His favorite phrase was, “Onward and Upward”, which epitomized his eternal optimism. Roy is survived by wife, Joci McKinney, Plano, TX, Sons, Marc (Susan), McKinney, TX, and Jerry (Cathy), Lantana, TX, two grandchildren, Shannon (Don) Lepard, Carrollton, TX, Glenn (Stephanie) McKinney, Oak Point, TX., and five great grandchildren, Cooper, Collin, London, Damon, and Ashton. Services will be held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Wildwood Chapel, Restland Funeral Home, Dallas, TX. Visitation is at Restland Funeral Home, on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 from 6-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org in Roy’s name.
