Royanne White Ramsey's Obituary
Royanne Ramsey, 81, passed away peacefully at her home in Garland, Texas, on September 6, 2023. Royanne was a dearly beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and treasured friend.
Royanne will be forever cherished by her daughter Stephanie DeMasters and her husband, Randy; son David Ramsey; daughter-in-law Laura Ramsey; grandsons Austin Ramsey and his wife, Sarah; Silas Jacob Ramsey and his wife, Rebecca and stepson, Grayson; granddaughters Olivia DeMasters, Alexandra DeMasters, and Mia Ramsey; her loving sister Dennilyn Sheldon; niece Ashlee Rice and her husband, Luke; nephew Joe Parker; great-niece Savannah Rice; and great-nephews Kellen Parker, Liam Parker, and Eli Parker, in addition to numerous other nieces and nephews.
In 1970, Royanne and her husband David, joined First Presbyterian Church of Garland, Texas, where they established a close circle of friends through youth group activities with their children and lively membership in the SWING ‘N’ 8’ square dance club. After David’s untimely death in 1986, Royanne devoted her life to her family and her church. In 1989, Royanne volunteered to serve on the Worship Committee and served faithfully every year until her passing…34 years! In that capacity, she served as Wedding and Funeral Coordinator, purchased communion supplies, served communion, and purchased all the seasonal flowers. Additionally, Royanne was ordained as a Deacon in 1994 and joyfully went on to serve 7 (3 year) terms throughout the years – a record at FPC! In that capacity, lovingly known as “The Kitchen Queen,” Royanne purchased all the kitchen supplies, coordinated Second Sunday Socials, Lenten dinners, and receptions for a myriad of celebrations. Royanne, too, was a proud and faithful member of the Christian Chicks Sunday school class. Royanne’s most cherished church event during the year, however, was the annual Women’s Retreat at Camp Gilmont. She loved sharing that special weekend with her sisters in Christ. Upon Royanne’s passing, the retreat planning team wholeheartedly agreed that this special 25th anniversary retreat will be in honor and loving memory of Royanne!
Royanne was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, David Ramsey; father Denmon Earl White; mother Evelyn Sloan White; aunt Inez Sloan (beloved Choody); brother-in-law James E. Sheldon, and father-and-mother-in-law Silas Vernon and Etta Beatrice Ramsey, who meant the world to her.
Visitation will be at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas, on Friday, September 15, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Garland at 11:30 am on Saturday, September 16. Remembrance gifts can be made in Royanne's honor to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure or the First Presbyterian Church of Garland Memorial Fund.
