Royce Peterson's Obituary
Peterson, Royce D., 98, of The Meridian in Galveston, formerly of Dallas, TX and Minneapolis, MN, went to his heavenly home on April 26, 2015. Royce was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ann E. Peterson and his parents Adolph and Inga Peterson, his brother Dayton Peterson (Wilma) and sisters Delma Scholz, Alice Myhervold (Mike) and Sylvia Rosetti (Jack). Royce is survived by his three children, Royce N. (Georgia), Julie Baker (Frank) and David (Susan), and four grand-children Austin Baker (Sara), Annie Baker, Bethany and Brandt Peterson. He will be missed by his loving nephews and nieces Judy Sieve, Patrick (Sharon) and Mike (Linda) Scholz, Penny Bahnsen (Mark), Jack Myhervold, Ted (BJ), Rick (Kathy) and Steve (Lee) Johnson. Royce was born March 17, 1917 in Eagle Bend, MN. He served his country in WWII as an aircraft mechanic and gunner in the Navy, flying hundreds of patrol hours in the Pacific and repaired planes on small, remote islands including Guadalcanal and Wake Atoll. Following the war, he was an aircraft inspector for Braniff International airlines for over 40 years. His lifelong passion was restoring and driving antique automobiles. Royce was still active in the Lone Star Model T Club of Dallas and was a 50 year member of the Model A Club. He was a member of the Central Congregational Church of Dallas. A combined funeral for Royce and a memorial service for Ann will be held Saturday, May 2, at 12:30pm in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland in Dallas with a reception immediately following the service. Burial will be at DFW National Cemetery on Monday, May 4, 2015. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
