Ruben Stanley Appleton's Obituary
Ruben Stanley Appleton, 79 of Canton, TX was born to R.S. and Frances Appleton in Midlothian, TX. Stan peacefully passed away November 5, 2019. He was married to his soulmate Serretta Key November 2, 1979. This last Saturday they celebrated forty years of blissful marriage. Less than 10% of marriages last as theirs did. They enjoyed traveling together and spending time with friends and family.Stan graduated from Waxahachie High School and obtained a Masters degree in Agricultural Education from East Texas State University in Commerce, Tx. Stan enjoyed many hobbies, including fishing with family, farming and raising goats, and was very actively involved on many levels with the Garland Volunteer Police Academy and well as the Garland Firefighters. One of Stan’s greatest accomplishments was the mentor-ship and positive influence he had on so many as an Ag Teacher and leader within the Police and Fire Academies. His greatest joy was spending time with family and watching his grandchildren and great grandchild grow and learn.Stan was blessed to be part of a large, loving family. Stan was preceded in death by his parents, R.S. and Frances and sister Rowena Taylor.He is survived by his wife of forty years, Serretta Appleton, two sons, Scott and Jon, daughter in law Janley, grandson, Jonathan and his wife Amanda, granddaughter Jayce, and one great grandchild, Lukas. Brother Ray and wife Audrey, Brother Ronald and wife Brenda, Sister Sue Poston as well as multiple nephews, nieces.Rejoice in the Lord always; again, I will say rejoice. Let your reasonableness be know to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made know to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:4-7Services for Stan will be held at Restland Funeral Home November 8, 2019. Visitation at 9:30, services at 10:30, and graveside services at Sardis Cemetery near the family farm where he was raised.
