Ruby Nette Chancellor's Obituary
CHANCELLOR, RUBY NETTE Passed away peacefully on August 14, 2010 just shy of her 99th birthday. She was born August 28, 1911 in Chicago, IL to Mrs. and Mrs. Edwin Oliver Denslow. When she was about one years old, the family moved back to their home community of Hustburg, TN. When her father’s lumber business seemed to be moving toward Memphis, the family moved there and stayed about two years. Then they moved to Paris, TN where she graduated from E.W. Grove High School. Her education continued at Lindenwood College and the University of Tennessee. During this time she obtained a position as an elementary school teacher at Tribble School. She graduated from college in 1936 and the next year moved to Brundidge, AL to teach Home Economics. In 1939, she married Emmett Chancellor. After his discharge from service in WWII, they moved to Bessemer, AL and bought a dry cleaning business. In 1955, she moved to Nashville, TN where she worked as a Registered Dietition at Baptist Hospital and later at Vanderbilt University Hospital. She retired in 1976 but continued her profession working as a Dietary Consultant. In 1984, she moved to Dallas, TX to be near her younger sister, Margaret Harris, who was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. While there, she was an active member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and as a member of Greater Lakewood Shepard’s Center. At age 90 she moved to The Forum at Park Lane where she remained until her passing. She is survived by her niece and husband, Dr. and Mrs. Arthur Bilyeu, of Gainesville, GA and nephew and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Harris of San Antonio, TX and her loving church family. A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 11:00AM at St. Andres Presbyterian Churc h. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to her church or to the charity of your choice.
