Ruby Esther Gray's Obituary
Ruby Esther Gray of Mesquite, TX passed away Jan. 2, 2019 at the age of 88. She was born Feb. 24, 1930 in Horatio, AR to John W. and Essie Mae (Lacefield) Bogan. Ruby spent her life raising her three children who all adore her and she continued giving her love as “GRAN” to her own grandchildren, as well as all the kids she babysat over many years. Her passions were making her house a home, gardening, including watching and making a home for the birds & squirrels and taking care of stray cats. She also loved traveling the country with her family over the last 20 plus years of her life, near or far, she never met a stranger. Ruby was a faithful member of Rodgers Baptist Church in Garland, TX. She participated in many activities with her Sunday School class, bible study groups, and Rodgers Rovers. She was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed. We will all feel her love as she watches over us from heaven.Ruby is survived by her children, Sherran Gammon of Garland, TX, Roger Baxley and his wife Renata of Mesquite, TX and Debrah Chockley and her husband Mike of Plano, TX; Grandchildren Michael Chockley and his wife Amanda, of Tampa, FL, Ashley (Gammon) Hale and her husband Jeff of Murphy, TX, Kristen (Chockley) Jordan and her husband Chris of Denver, CO, and Cory Chockley of Aubrey, TX; Great Grandchildren Alex Chockley of Portland, OR, Haley and Josh Hale of Murphy, TX, Ethan & Logan Chockley of Tampa, FL, and Caroline Jordan of Denver, CO along with many other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Johnnie Gray and her brothers Otis M., Milton M., Leroy C., and Wesley V. and sisters Marie, Gladys L., and Thelma L.Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Rodgers Baptist Church, 801 W Buckingham Rd., Garland, TX 75040 at 11:00 am with Pastor Ron Thomas officiating. Graveside services will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019, at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville, Ave, Dallas, TX 75243 at 1:30 pm. Donations may be made to the Rodgers Baptist Church.
