Ruby Katherine Hagler's Obituary
Hagler, Ruby “Katherine” – Heaven received a beautiful Angel on August 24, 2019. Katherine was born in Floyd, Texas on January 29, 1929 and was raised by her Aunt Mary Lou Cassel and Oscar B. Johnson(adoptive father). She lived in San Antonio, Texas until she moved to Dallas, Texas her senior year in High School, where she graduated from Sunset. After High School, Katherine attended Secretarial School. She took pride in her shorthand and attention to detail. She worked at the Federal Reserve using her excellent secretarial skills.She met Granville Hagler and they married on November 27, 1952 and settled down in East Dallas. They had two daughters, Mary Martha and Brenda Kay. Katherine poured her heart and soul into being a wonderful Mother and home maker. She stayed home raising the girls and supporting them in their school and church activities until they were in High School. Then, she returned to the workforce as a secretary at the World Book Encyclopedia and then, the Southland Corporation.Katherine was a very loving, giving, and selfless person, always putting others first. She was most happy when she was surrounded by her family and friends. Everyone who knew her loved her smile, bright blue eyes, and tender heart. Katherine’s priorities were God, Family, Beauty Shop…and in that order.She was a member of the Garland Road Church of Christ, then, the Highland Oaks Church of Christ, and later, the Saturn Road Church of Christ. Katherine loved reminiscing about the good ale days at Garland Road Church of Christ when her girls (Mary and Brenda) were active in the Youth Group led by Jim Hackney, and the entire family was involved in Church activities. She enjoyed singing songs, especially if they were from the Youth Group days at Garland Road or some of the older hymns.She is survived by her loving daughters, Mary Mann, and Brenda Villanueva, sons-in-law, Manny Villanueva, and Angus Mann, nephew, Walter Johnson, half-brother CW Herd, grandchildren, Katherine (Katie) Johnson (husband Johnny), Adam Pharaon, Sean Johnson (wife Virginia), James Pharaon (wife Kristi), and great-grandchilden, Olivia Johnson (Sean’s daughter), Charlotte Johnson (Katie’s daughter), Kayci and Noble Pharaon (James’ children).She was preceded in death by her husband, Granville Hagler, brother, Hiram B. Johnson, aunt, Mary Lou Cassel, uncle, Thomas Cassel, and uncle, Oscar B. Johnson.
