Rudy Delgado Munoz's Obituary
Rudolfo “Rudy” Delgado Munoz, age 90, of Allen, Texas passed away on November 3, 2009. He was born on December 20, 1918 in San Antonio, Texas to Felix Munoz and Alejandra Delgado Munoz. Rudy proudly served our country in the United States Army as a surgical tech during World War II in the Asian Pacific and other campaigns. He received two bronze stars and several other medals and decorations for his service in the Army. Upon leaving the Army, Rudy married Mary Hope Hernandez on May 7, 1949 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Dallas, Texas. He began his career at Neiman-Marcus in 1951 where he later became known as the “Birdman of Neiman-Marcus” until his retirement in 1989. Rudy received the title of “Birdman of Neiman-Marcus” because he made numerous trips around the country to deliver precious birds and other valuable items. He made deliveries to Liberace at his home, Elvis at Graceland, and “Lady Bird Johnson” at the White House, as well as other well-known people. Rudy was preceded in death by his parents Felix and Alejandra Munoz. Also preceding him were his brothers, Felix Munoz, Joe Munoz, German Munoz, and Charles Munoz and sister, Annie Munoz. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Hope Munoz, of Allen, Texas; his daughters, Mary Magdalene Munoz Taylor and her husband, Mickey Taylor of McKinney, Texas and Mary Hope Munoz of Allen, Texas; his granddaughter, Carrie Taylor Weatherly and her husband, James Weatherly of Allen, Texas; his great-grandson, Parker James Weatherly of Allen, Texas; his sister, Margaret Munoz Vasquez of Frisco, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home at 13005 Greenville Avenue in Dallas, Texas. The Vigil will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 7:00 PM at St. Jude Catholic Church at 1515 N. Greenville Avenue in Allen, Texas. The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 9, 2009 at 11:00 AM at St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, Texas. The internment will immediately follow at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. Donations can be made to St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, Texas in lieu of flowers.
