Russell O. Campbell's Obituary
Russell Campbell, beloved father and grandfather passed away January 5, 2011 at the age of 85. Russell was born September 22, 1925 in Woods County, Oklahoma. He graduated from Hardtner High School in Kansas. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the Navy and served on the USS Westpoint during World War II. After serving his country, he married his loving wife of 56 years, Shirley, who preceded him in death. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1950. He worked in the oil and gas industry throughout his career, the majority of it with General American Oil Company in Dallas, where he served as Vice President of Gulf Coast Production. Russell spent his retirement years traveling, playing golf, watching OU and Dallas Cowboy football, and being with family and friends. He is survived by four children and their spouses , Debbie Conrad and her husband Larry; Rohn Campbell and his wife Denise; Jill Talley and her husband, Theron; and Mark Campbell and his wife Kelly. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Matthew, Rhett, Kristen, Zachary, Russell, Randi, Raynor, Chase, Katelyn and Reed. Russell was a shining example of what a husband, father, and grandfather should be. Thanks to the caregivers of Visiting Angels for their loving and attentive care. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Restland’s Abbey Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 8111 LBJ Freeway, Suite 425, Dallas, TX 75251.
