Russell Calhoun Lacey's Obituary
Lacey, Russell lifelong native of Dallas was born on October 04, 1935 and passed away on March 30, 2013. Russell Lacey was a life-long resident of Dallas, Texas, and member of the First Baptist Church of Dallas. Russell was the son of Russell C. Lacey and Alberta Calhoun Lacey. He attended Robert E. Lee Elementary, J.L. Long Junior High and Woodrow Wilson High Schools. At Woodrow Wilson he was captain of the tennis team and cadet Lieutenant Colonel in the ROTC. He attended two years at The University of Texas, majoring in Mechanical Engineering, and worked for Magnolia Oil Company in the field during the summers. Russell served in the U.S. Army after completing training at Fort Carson in Colorado and at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Washington. After returning home, he played violin in the orchestra of First Baptist Dallas and worked in the childcare field there. He enjoyed traveling in the United States. His last years were spent at The Doctors Healthcare Center in Dallas. Russell is survived by his sister, Sylvia Anne Lacey Meredith and husband, Cham Meredith; nephew, John Meredith and wife, Shirley and sons, Ben and Mason of Houston, Texas; niece, Anne Meredith Frey and husband, Ernie and daughters, Morgan, Meredith and Madison; and neice Jane Meredith Stein and husband, Alex and children Sarah, Samuel and Sophia.Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be at 3:30 PM on Saturday, April 6, 2013 in Restland Wildwood Chapel. Reverends Alan Lynch and Larry Walker will officiate.
