Ruth Minor Brooks' Obituary
BROOKS, RUTH MINOR was born on January 15, 1923 in Triplett, MO and passed away peacefully on March 28, 2013 in Allen, TX. Ruth graduated high school from Triplett High School in Triplett , MO. She was a graduate of Eastern Montana College in Billings, Montana with a B.S. in Education and received her Masters degree in Secondary Education from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX. Ruth was a very ambitious and independent woman. She had many different types of careers throughout her life from typist, legal secretary, stenographer, bookkeeper, mechanic and entrepreneur owning several beauty salons. Lastly, she was a dedicated elementary school teacher for 23 years before she retired. After retiring, she volunteered at a neighboring hospital. Mostly importantly, Ruth was a loving mother and wife, and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Music was a big part of her life as she played the piano and the clarinet. She is preceded in death and will join in Glory her husband Charles Edward Brooks of 57 years, her parents and her siblings. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Dale and Donna Brooks, her 3 grandchildren, Michael Brooks (Debbie), Douglas Brooks (Myla), Jennie Brooks Shankle (Joe) and 8 great-grandchildren, Trevor, Tyler and Tanner Brooks, Kyle and Alex (Tudela) Brooks, and Megan, Austin and Carson Shankle. Services will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. at Restland Wildwood Chapel. No visitation is scheduled.
