Ruth Brotherton's Obituary
Ruth Brotherton, 93, passed away of natural causes at Baylor Hospital in Grapevine, Texas on Monday morning, February 1, 2016. Ruth was born on February 11, 1922 in Dallas, Texas, the youngest of 4 children. Ruth lived most of her life in Dallas and enjoyed a 30 year career in the Dallas Design Center. After retirement, Ruth enjoyed traveling to Mexico and many other tropical destinations. Each spring Ruth would spend a month at the Texas coast, where she enjoyed fishing and seashell hunting with her three poodles. In 2002 Ruth moved to Grapevine to be closer to her daughter and family. Ruth quickly settled into her new town by growing new and cherished friendships. Members of Lonesome Dove Church welcomed Ruth with open arms, which made her new town “feel like home!” Ruth eventually declared membership at Bethel Baptist Church where she again was embraced by beautiful and genuine friends. We are incredibly thankful that Meme was able to be with us for 93 years. Her words of wisdom will forever ring in our cherished memories “Say Your Prayers, Use your good Christian common sense and lock your doors!” In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to; St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Ruth was survived by Daughter; Patricia Lowe, Daughter-in-law; Barbara Howell, Grandchildren; Leean and husband Steve Strehlow, Suzanne Pope, Stanley Howell, and wife Kathy, and 7 Great Grandchildren.
