Ruth Kirk (Malone) Burroughs' Obituary
Ruth Kirk (Malone) Burroughs passed away in Garland, TX on October 25, 2020 as the age of 97 after a brief Covid illness. Ruth was born in Myrtle Springs, TX on September 30, 1923. She is preceded in death by her parents Mary Dee (Kirk) Malone and James Franklin Malone, as well as her husband of 51 years, Charles Oran Burroughs of Dallas, TX. Other family members that predeceased Ruth are her brothers William Guy, Timothy Franklin, Clyde Reese and Herman Ausel Malone; her sister Rose Mary (Malone) Bartlett and Owen McGill, her son-in-law. Ruth moved to Dallas in the early 1940’s and went to work at Butler Brothers department store. Ruth and “Charlie”married on February 26, 1954 and made their home in Dallas. Ruth was mother Charlie’s daughter, Thalia Marjean (Burroughs) McGill and she and Charlie were parents of Sharon Ruth (Burroughs) Arnold. She was very active in her church, and Sharon’s school activities, always first to volunteer. Things most remembered about Ruth would be her faith, her constant happy smile and outgoing personality. Also remembered were her amazing cooking skills and the ability to memorize any recipe and cook it again years later. Ruth is survived by daughter Jean of Detroit, MI and daughter Sharon and husband Sammy Joe Arnold of Garland. She was known as “Grandma or Gramma” to grandkids Mike and Mark McGill, Michele Goulet, Andrea Szewczyk, Joniette Crawford and Curtis Neino. She was “Mimi” to grandkids Aaron Charles Arnold and wife Sabrina Marie (Rosenthal) Arnold and Brian Tipton Arnold and wife Ashley Rebekah (Smith) Arnold. She leaves 17 great and 13 great great grandchildren. Mary Katherine (Malone) Harvey and husband Jim Harvey of Howe, TX and Stanley Charles Malone and wife Christie Cae (Nash) Malone of Scottsdale, AZ are surviving nieces and nephews. We are very thankful for the assurance Ruth is now rejoicing in heaven! Visitation: 3-5pm, Monday, November 2nd. Service: 10am, Tuesday, November 3rd, Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX.
