Ruth L.S. Daniel's Obituary
Ruth Louvenia Scott Nagle Daniel was one of three children born to Ruth Lean and Philip Thompson Nagle in Akron, Ohio, on January 23, 1921. She died at the age of 95 years in her home on April 22, 2016, in Dallas, TX. After her mother died when she was six years old and her father could no longer care for his three children due to an industrial accident, he placed his three children in the Summit County Children’s Home. After four years the children were placed in the foster farm home of Minnie and Bion Clark of Wadsworth, Ohio. Ruth attended the local schools and graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1938. She attended Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education in 1942. She married Gerard E. Daniel of Tiffin, Ohio, in October of 1942, and they spent the next thirty four years moving from one successful farming operation after another, and rearing a family of seven children. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years and is survived by five sons and two daughters — Mark of Pittsburg, TX; Jonathan, Kurt (Debra), Christian (Kathe) and Jeffrey (Lynn) of Dallas, TX; Jeanne Daniel of Columbus, Ohio; and Lynne (Darrell) Blake of Irving, TX. She also has ten grandchildren and seven great children. Funeral service will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 9643 Ferndale Road, Dallas, TX, at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016, with luncheon following. Rosary will precede the funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery in Tiffin, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, if desired, memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, in memory of Ruth Daniel, St. Patrick’s Church, 9643 Ferndale Road, Dallas, TX 75238 or a charity of choice.. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
