Ruth Temple Henson Mathis' Obituary
Mathis, Ruth Temple, of Dallas, TX, beloved Mother, ultimate Nana, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, passed away on March 12, 2010 at the age of 91. She was born in Pampa, TX on August 25, 1918, to John P. and Marion Ruth Henson. She grew up in Roscoe, TX, where she graduated as salutatorian of her class. She then married and moved to Dallas, where she began her family. She was a homemaker until 1959, when she began a 26 year career with Republic National Bank in the International Banking and Commodities Department. She was loved by all who knew her well and adored by those who knew her best. She is survived by her daughters, Gloria M. Teeling (Phil) of Dallas, Suzanne Henderson (Gene) of El Paso; daughter-in-law, Freeda M. Mathis of Coppell; grandchildren, Gregory K. Searcy, Phillip E. Teeling, III, Shawn P. Teeling, Bradley K. Mathis, Michael S. Mathis, Meredith A. Henderson, Barton A. Henderson, Trenton A. Henderson; great-grandchildren, Jennifer L. Searcy, Taylor K. Searcy, Hayden A. Searcy, Ryan K. Mathis, Amanda S. Mathis, Hunter W. Mathis, Marguire S. Mathis, Mason G. Mathis, Landon L. Mathis, Lane M. Mathis, Robert T. Teeling, Aiden D. Henders, Kyrsten S. Henderson; great great-grandson, Micha R. Searcy-Sayles. She is preceded in death by her brother, Cdr. John H. Henson, USN Ret.; sons, H. Kent Mathis and Melvis W. Mathis and grandson, Christopher W. Teeling. The family wishes to give special thanks to Michael Knight and the entire staff of Arden courts-Richardson for their loving and exceptioal care of Mother. Her grandchldren will serve as pallbearers at the service to celbrate her life. The service will be held at Restland Funeral Home (Greenville at Restland Rd, Dallas, TX) in Wildwood Chapel, on Saturday, March 20, 3:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s REsearch Hospital, 800-873-6983.
