Ruth Ellen Kemp's Obituary
Ruth Ellen Kemp of Dallas, TX died at Baylor Scott & White Hospital – White Rock in Dallas due to an infection after being weakened by a variety of illnesses. Ruth was born in Indianapolis, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents Gail W. and Vida M. Kemp of Dallas and by her sister Phyllis Joan Kemp Carter of Richardson. She leaves behind: her brother Allan E. Kemp and wife Dotti of Keller, TX; brother-in-law James L Carter, Ph. D. of Richardson, TX; nephew Charles C. Kemp, PhD and wife Melissa, PhD of Atlanta, GA; nephew Michael A. Kemp and wife Stefanie of Keller, TX; two grandnephews; two grandnieces; and numerous other relatives and friends. Ruth will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Ruth lived in: Bloomfield, IN 1940-1949; Iowa City, IA 1949-1951; San Antonio, TX 1951-1961. She graduated from Alamo Heights High School in 1958. The above photo was taken in 1959 at the time she attended the University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. She retired from the Dallas Police Department. Ruth loved children and animals. She enjoyed reading, making crafts, solving puzzles, playing games, and collecting items. She was able to attend and enjoy our 2016 Thanksgiving dinner with her nephews and their families at Allan’s home, but then was unable to visit again due to her poor health. Ruth’s plans will be followed for cremation and a granite memorial for her final resting place in Space 1 of Lot Number 12, Block H in Section Q at Restland of Dallas, Greenville Ave. at Restland Rd., Dallas, TX. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
