Ruth Nell Newbauer's Obituary
Ruth Nell Looney Newbauer entered this world on January 23, 1926. She was born in Lubbock, Texas, the third daughter of Walter Dunn Looney and Lula May Campbell Looney. She was special from the day she was born and never met an enemy. She was loved by all. She married Merle Leroy Newbauer on February 8, 1946 and became instant friends with Merle’s sisters, brothers, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, husband, eldest sister Donna Mattingley and grandsons Richard Johnson and Alec Newbauer. She is survived by her middle sister, Charlene Frost; daughters Cathy Leslie and Sandy Johnson; sons Lee Newbauer, David Newbauer and Douglas Newbauer; son-in-laws Lynn Leslie and Tom Johnson and daughter-in-laws Joann Newbauer and Marie Newbauer; grandsons, Lee Newbauer Jr., Aaron Newbauer, Tommy Johnson III, Jeffrey Johnson and Kenny Brown; granddaughters, Alexis Newbauer, Jessica Newbauer Brown, Alexis Newbauer and Monica Ortiz; great-grandchildren, Lee Newbauer, III, Ariel Newbauer, Justice Brown and Janiya Brown, best friend Betty Smith and nieces and nephews who considered her their second mom: Carolyn Lowry, Beverly Schultz, Barry Frost and Linda Sagraves. Her time spent with all the people in her life was very special to her. She loved to read her bible, watch television, play bingo and spending quality time with her children and grandchildren, sisters, best friend, nieces and nephews was precious to her. She loved to cook, enjoyed eating out and adored life in general. Her attitude was unbeatable and complaining was a word she did not have in her vocabulary. She was never short of words and humor and was a very giving person and always put others ahead of herself. She fought to survive with her last breath, and there are so many people that love this beautiful woman but her Lord and Savior called her home at 12:47 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2010 and heaven is so much brighter with her presence. Though she is in a better place and smiling down on all, she will be greatly missed. Leave the light on mom…..we will be there to join you when the Good Lord calls us home.
