Ruth M. Sanchez's Obituary
Ruth Menchaca-Sanchez was born on March 19, 1937, to her loving parents, Pastor Nicanor Menchaca and Guadalupe Saldaña-Menchaca in Yoakum, Texas.Her siblings were Ruben, Nicanor, Jr., Olga Menchaca-Guajardo, Pastor Joel, Joshua, Oscar and Hector Menchaca.Hermana Ruth, as she was lovingly called, grew up in a Christian home where she helped and supported her familyin ministry. Her father, Pastor Nicanor Menchaca, was a musician who ensured all his children could play an instrument during worship services in the churches where he served. Hermana Ruth became an accomplished pianist and singer who supported not only her father’s ministry, but, her own ministry along side her husband, Pastor Rudy Sanchez, in their 47-year pastoral ministry in Texas.Here is the list of churches were Dr. Rudy and Ruth Sanchez served –Primera Iglesia Bautista, Fort Worth, Texas – 1960 – 1961Primera Iglesia Bautista Mexicana, Dallas, Texas – 1964 – 1974Primera Iglesia Bautista, Corpus Christi, Texas – 1974 – 1984Trinity Baptist Church, Houston, Texas – 1985 – 1997Primera Iglesia Bautista Mexicana, Dallas, Texas – 1997 – 2003Hermana Ruth was also a loving mother to her children who modeled Christian commitment, prayer, gracefulliving and loving kindness to everyone. She was also a devoted and caring grandmother to Ariel, Pablo, Kyle and Kiera.She was very gifted in organization and worked in education. She served as Executive Assistant and Executive Secretary in public schools, Tarrant County Junior College and Educational Service Centers of Texas.Preschool ministry was Hermana Ruth’s favorite ministry. She served over 50 years teaching kindergarten classes inthe churches where she and Pastor Rudy Sanchez ministered.She also served the Baptist General Convention of Texas, now known as, Texas Baptists, as well as Convención Bautista Hispana de Texas, presenting training conferences for preschool teachers all over Texas.Pastor Rudy and Ruth Sanchez were charter members of North Dallas Family Church, located in Carrollton, Texas.Hermana Ruth served as a Deaconess, Preschool ministry director for 13 years and also sang in the worship choir.She led the Beautification ministry where she taught church members to keep the Lord’s house beautiful bydecorating the church and church events with grace, beauty and elegance.She is survived by her children, Pastor Vincent J. and Rhoda Gonzales, Chris and Rebekah “Becky” Layne,Regem Saul and Reuel Scott Sanchez, Herman and Lidia Splatt.Her grandchildren are Vicente Ariel and Pablo Antonio Gonzales and Kyle Diego and Kiera Sofia Layne.Visitation will be held on February 22, 2019 at Restland Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be held on February 23, 2019 at North Dallas Family Church at 10:00 AM.
