Ruth Marie Self's Obituary
Self, Ruth Marie Anderson Nov 14, 1914 -April 12, 2012, born in Kansas City, MO to Pansy Soderstrom Anderson from Kansas City and John Anderson from Sweden, After graduation from Westport High School, Ruth worked as a model at the Mary Dean Frock Co. until she married Guy Self in Kansas City on August 15, 1936. After moving to Dallas, she raised funds for several charities. She worked as the executive secretary of the Leukemia Association of North Texas and retired at age 77. Pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 49 years, Guy Self, she is survived by her sons: John Stephen Self (wife, Nan Brown Self); Charles Philip Self; and her daughter, Cheryl Ruth Self; grandson, John Clinton Selfridge; granddaughter, Kimberley Elaine Self, and nieces; Pam Troboy and Paula Troboy Jacobs. Visitation Services for the celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at Restland Funeral Home, on Monday, April 16th from 6-8pm. The funeral service is Tuesday, April 17tth at 3:30pm in the Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Operation Kindness, 3201 Earhart Dr., Carrollton, TX 75006 or the charity of your choice .
