Sallie Crawford's Obituary
Sallie Maude Crawford, 95, of Dallas, TX left this world to be with God on Sunday, April 1, 2018, surrounded by the love of her family. Services will be 3 pm, Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Friday, April 6, 2018 at Restland Funeral Home. Sallie was born on December 18, 1922 in Colbert, OK to Dan H. Collins and Nancy Madalyn Colbert. She graduated Valedictorian of Colbert High School in 1941. During World War II she worked at an Aircraft Foundry where she met Marcelline Crawford who introduced her to her brother Ralph E. Crawford. Sallie and Ralph were married in 1945 after a whirlwind courtship. She then worked in telecommunications with Southwestern Bell in Houston and in Dallas as a telephone operator and worked her way up to a managerial position. She worked with them for 30 years and joined the Telephone Pioneers of America. She remained a member of the Pioneers her whole life; through them and on her own she did work with many charitable organizations. She was a past president of the Dallas Garden Club and long time member of the Tri-City Book Review Group where she was President from 2004-2006. She was a devoted Christian and her faith was important for her to share with family and friends. Sallie is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. Crawford; parents, Dan H. Collins and Nancy Madalyn Collins; and nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by her loving daughters, Madalyn Conrad and Sallie Sue Shipley; grandchildren, Julie Waltzer, Mollie Warner, Christian Conrad, and Megan Nicholson; as well as five great-grandchildren.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243, (972-238-7111).
