Sallie Mackey's Obituary
MACKEY, SALLIE resident of Dallas, unexpectedly passed away December 3, 2011. Born in 1933 in Wichita Falls, she is preceded in death by her parents Ellis Head and Bertha Roberts Head and first husband Robert James George. Survived by her 3 loving sons, Charles George, Jeff George and Clyde George along with her second husband Harold Mackey. Sallie obtained her BA degree in history from UTD, where she also worked and retired after 20 years as Assistant to the Dean, School of Human Development. Sallie was a 40 year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Mary Shirley McGuire Chapter, holding the office as Regent twice. She was very dedicated & loyal to DAR, being on a number of State committees. Sallie was also a member of the Dallas Area Past Regents Council and held offices therein. She was also a member of The Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Memorial service will be Wed., Dec. 7th, 2011, Restland Memorial Chapel, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Tx 75243, at 10:00 am with visitation at 9:00 am before the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be sent to the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, c/o Sallie Mozelle Head Mackey Scholarship, 1776 D Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20006.
