Sally Norris Barnes' Obituary
Sally Norris Barnes, a vibrant and unforgettable presence, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on September 19, 1940, Sally lived a life filled with love, resilience, and a spirit uniquely her own.
A devoted single mother, Sally raised her two children in the piney woods of East Texas, where she cultivated both her garden and her family with boundless dedication. An avid gardener, her home was always surrounded by thriving greenery, bright blooms, and a pack of loyal dogs who rarely left her side.
Sally had a deep passion for blues and soul music, which filled her life and home with rhythm and joy. Her distinctive sense of style and infectious laugh left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Arthur Leon, whose memory she cherished deeply. Sally is survived by her loving daughter, Ashley Rogers, and son-in-law, Derek Rogers. She also leaves behind her sister, Mary Sue, and brother-in-law, Murray McClain, along with their children and grandchildren, as well as her brother, Tom Norris, and his children and grandchildren.
Sally was a dreamer who embraced life with an open heart. Her legacy of love, laughter, and a life well-lived will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her. She was deeply loved and will be missed by many.
A celebration of Sally’s life will be held at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243, on Monday December 30th at 10:30am.
