Sallye Bill Abbott's Obituary
Sallye Bill Abbott of Dallas, TX, passed away on December 11, 2014, after a lengthy illness at the age of 89. Sallye was born in Dallas on September 15, 1925, to parents G.B. Jack Spratt and Leah Spratt of Dallas, TX. Sallye grew up in Oak Cliff and graduated from Forest Avenue High School in 1943. She later attended North Texas State University, where she thrived in Theater. She then married Henry Arthur Abbott on June 21, 1947 in Dallas, and they remained happily married for 56 years. Sallye had a varied career as a private secretary, bookkeeper and later a Realtor for Ebby Halliday Realtors and Henry S. Miller Realtors. The greatest joy of her life was her family. She was a devoted, loving wife and mother. She believed that family was the heart of the home. Sallye was a very strong Christian and she loved the Lord. She was very active in her church, First Baptist of Richardson, TX. She was always ready to help a friend in need and minister to the community. She enjoyed and was devoted to her volunteer work with Meals on Wheels, Network Food Ministries of Richardson and area nursing homes. She also served as a Dallas Court Representative for AARP and as Ombudsman for the Senior Citizens’ Center of Richardson. Sallye is survived by her 2 daughters, Vicki Lyn Fenter and husband, John H. Fenter of McKinney and Leahli Blair of Dallas; six grandchildren, Sean L. Fenter of McKinney, Shana R. Fenter of McKinney, Shelby S. Cahill of Prosper, Amanda L. Davis of Plano, Tiffany A. Kunkle of Cypres, and Jacob K. Blair of Dallas; three great grandchildren, Aleeya E. Davis and Finn H. Kunkle, of Cypress and Frankie L. Cahill of Prosper; nephew, Tom Batten, of Hernando, FL and cousin, Howard Blackburn of Highland Park. She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry A. Abbott; father, G. B. Jack Spratt; mother, Leah Spratt and sister, Melba Batten. As Sallye enters into Heaven to be with the Lord and we say our good byes for now; family and friends rejoice in having known, loved and been loved by Sallye Bill Abbott. The visitation for Sallye will be from 06:00 to 08:00 PM on Sunday, December 14, 2014, at Restland Funeral Home. The funeral service for Salley will be at 10:00 AM on December 15, 2014 in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Hone. Internment following service at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75238 at Restland Road.
