Salomy Mathews' Obituary
Salomy Mathews, daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Chacko Yohannan & Maryamma Chacko, was born on February 21, 1938 in Pavukonathu House, Kadampanadu, Kerala, India. She was the third of her parents five children. After the completion of her high school education, she pursued a professional degree in nursing in the town of Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu. In 1960, she began her first nursing job in the city of Jamshedpur, Bihar. On August 5th, 1968, Salomy was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Mathews K. Abraham. Salomy and her husband moved to Rourkela, Orissa to begin their family life and there they were blessed with two children; their daughter, Suma, and their son, Sam. Salomy accepted Jesus as her personal Saviour in 1969 and followed the Lord in water baptism in the same year. She maintained an active role as a member of the Indian Pentecostal Church in Rourkela until leaving Orissa in 1975. She worked alongside her husband, Pastor Mathews K. Abraham, in the Lord’s vineyard throughout India and in the United States.In 1975, Salomy emigrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to continue her profession in nursing and remained there until 1982. It was at this point that she and her family relocated to Dallas, Texas. She worked as a Registered Nurse for the next twenty-one years until she took her retirement from Medical City Hospital of Dallas in 2003.Salomy and her husband Mathews had the great privilege of commemorating their fiftieth year of marriage on August 5th, 2018.At 1:30AM on August 6th, 2018, while lovingly surrounded by her husband, her son, her daughter, and daughter-in-law, Salomy went to be with our Lord and entered into glory.Salomy is survived by her husband, Pastor Mathews K. Abraham, her daughter and son-in-law Suma and Ebby John, her son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Shirley Mathews, her grandchildren, Joshua and Ethan John, and David and Charlie Mathews. She is lovingly remembered by her siblings in India; her sister, Pennamma John & P.V. John, her sister, Kunamma Koshy & the late Mr. K.O. Koshy, her brother, Chacko Yohannan & Rachel John, and her sister Denamma Baby & Chacko Baby.Salomy was a gentle and sweet soul who blessed many with her hospitality and kindness. She has left a void in the hearts of all who knew her. We are thankful to the Lord to have granted her a blessed life and we will forever cherish her memory.Salomy’s memorial service will be held Friday, August 10th, 2018 at 7 pm. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 11th, 2018 at 10 am. Both services will take place at Freedom Church located at 2435 E. Hebron Parkway, Carrollton, Texas 75010. The burial will take place after the funeral and will be conducted at Restland Cemetery 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
