ATHAS, SAM PETE, 94, Sam was born September 15, 1913 in Dallas, TX to Mr. and Mrs. Pete Athas. He passed away January 5, 2008 in Dallas, TX. He was preceded in death by mother, Aglaia Dinas Athas and father, Pete Athas; brothers, Nick Athas and Bill Athas. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Harris Athas; daughter, Vergie Starr; son, Nick Athas; grandson, Sam Pete Athas II; sisters, Catheryn Angel and Angeline Psalidas; brother, Angelo Athas; many great nieces and nephews; and a very special daughter-in-law, Tanya Delgado. Sam was born and raised in Dallas TX where he lived with his family his entire life. He was a veteran of World War II, a 32nd degree mason, served for over 50 years as a shriner, and a member of the AHEPA for over 50 years. as well as past member of the Dallas Police Reserve. He was a Dallas business owner until he retired. He loved to travel with his family. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was a friend for life and was such a privilege for all who knew him. He will be dearly missed by all. Visitation will be held at Restland Funeral Home Tuesday, January 8th at 6:00 PM with the Prayer Service to follow in the Restland Memorial Chapel at 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 9th at 1:00 PM at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 13555 Hillcrest Rd. Memorials can be made to The Shriners Hospital For Children, The American Veterans Disabled For Life Memorial or The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
