My little sami was such a huge inspiration to me. She taught me to do any of the silly and important things I want in the face of any judgements or second guessing. she was a balance for me. Giving me strong thoughtful advice with a sense of pragmatism well beyond her years. She helped me realize that there is a world of struggles and obstacles far beyond my little problems. As well as showing me a value in myself and my work I could never see. we all seem to have our own singular relationships with sam, simple or complicated, short or indefinite. But nonetheless exclusive to only you and her. Which made the time or thought she gave you that much more authentic. The weight samantha carried was so great and the fact she carried it for so long was a testament to how much she loved her family and friends. To see them. To grow with them. And to one day feel that she made them proud. What sam seemed to never get is that they were proud. She had carried so much, so far, well beyond what most of us could ever do on our own. Everyday I saw her grin with her goofy kidlike laugh was an accomplishment worth an award. Sami. I love you. And thank you for orbiting around me for so many times before you left.
