Sammie Mae DeFratus' Obituary
Sammie DeFratus, 83, of Tyler, Texas, died peacefully on June 24, 2019. She was born March 15, 1936, in Temple, Texas and graduated from Boles Home in 1954. She lived in Irving for 21 years and Tyler for 24 years. Sammie is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Harry L. DeFratus. Survivors include son, Gary DeFratus and daughter-in-law Kellie of Southlake; daughter Laurie DeFratus of Tyler; sister Christine Drummond and brother-in-law Don of Amarillo; brother-in-law Carroll DeFratus of Pottsboro; sister-in-law Dorothy Walker of Rineyville, KY; grandchildren, Brad DeFratus of San Antonio and Lindsey Fortin of Ft. Worth; great-grandchildren Eli and Eden Fortin of Ft. Worth; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with her loving dog, Bubbles.Sammie was a devoted mother and cherished being a grandmother. She was also loyal and dear friend, many were like extended family to her. A devout Christian, Sammie was a member of Broadway Church of Christ in Tyler and enjoyed spending time worshiping and volunteering before her health began to suffer. Her mark on this Earth is forever stamped and lives forever changed by the immense love she poured over us all.Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, June 29th at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243. The services and burial are scheduled at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2019 in Restland’s Abbey Chapel with Jim Laws officiating.Because of her love for dogs, the family kindly requests a donation in Sammie’s name in lieu of flowers to Center for Veterinary Specialty 2700 Lake Vista Dr. Lewisville TX 75067.
