Sammy Joe Ramsey Sr.'s Obituary
Sammy “Sam” Joe Ramsey departed this earthly world on December 19, 2014. He lived and worked at his home in Prosper, Texas. Sam was the age of 76. He passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at his home of natural causes. Sam was born on October 17, 1938 in Dallas. His parents were Carl Lenard Ramsey, Sr. and Lois Naomi Stovall-Fryer. He grew up in Oak Cliff and graduated from Adamson High School. He then went on to be in the Air Force Reserve and attended Arlington State while working at Southwestern Bell. He was an engineer for them for 32 years and then worked for Housley Communications for about eight years and then retired. After retiring he was bestowed the honor of working with his family, Joseph Leslie and Sarah Leslie-Keys. He met his lovely bride at the ripe old age of 12 in 1950 during Sunday School, where he could not help himself but to tie the arms of a beautiful pink coat together, because he didn’t want the pretty owner to leave with out noticing his adorable red hair and freckles. Little did he realize at the time he would spend 59 of the best years of his with that beautiful girl named Sue. Words cannot express how much he loved her. Together they had two beautiful boys, Sammy and Bryan whom they are so proud to have as children. As time went on Sammy and Bryan married and gave them five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Sam’s family was the most important thing in the world to him. He had several hobbies: metal delting, jewelry faprecation, and even played a season of Church league softball with his sons. He was an unusual man who adored his mother-in-law, Opal Lunsford. He and Sue invited and cared for Opal and Naomi in the last days of there time here on Earth and were honored to do so. Sams character was that of an extremely honest, hard-working, family oriented gentleman. He loved the Lord and attended the Church of Christ until the last years of his life. He served as a Deacon at the Church of Christ in Ennis, Texas. Sam is survived by his wife, Sue Ramsey; his sons, Sammy and his wife, Shelley Ramsey; Bryan and his wife, Samantha Ramsey; five grandchildren, Lacy Ramsey-Camp, Tiffany Ramsey, Brandon Ramsey, Stormy Ramsey and Joshua Ramsey.
