Sammy Clifton Spears' Obituary
Sammy Clifton Spears (Papaw) was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas on March 13, 1924. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 5, 2018, surrounded by family and friends.He joined the Navy in January 1943. After serving in World War II, he married and settled in the Plano area and became a lifelong printer. He enjoyed many hobbies including farming, gardening, working on cars, woodworking, and especially growing roses for Earleen.Preceded in death by his wife, Earleen Odessa Shouse Spears, his mom and dad, along with many brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, and cousins.Cliff is survived by one sister; Martha Dee Martin; his daughters, ElsaLynn Cook and husband Johnny; Theresa Mckee and husband Rick; grandkids, Tiffany and husband Carson Harrod; Kasey and husband Jeremy Maniloff; Taylor Mckee and wife Lindsey, as well as great grandkids, Tanner and Savannah.The funeral service for Mr. Spears will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. The family request that visiting hours be observed one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Mr. Spears will be interred in DFW National Cemetery at a later date.In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to The USS New Jersey; Camden, New Jersey.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243 (972-238-7111).
