Samuel Antunes Alves' Obituary
Samuel Antunes Alves August 30, 1928 – April 5, 2016 Samuel Alves, 87, of Rockwall, Texas passed away April 5, 2016, as a result of a hard battle with congestive heart disease. Samuel was born in Marinha Grande, Portugal and moved to the United States in 1976 when he open the first authentic French Bakery in Dallas, known as La Française Bakery. Today the bakery still relies on time-honored baking traditions he dedicated his working years to build and will be carried on by his son and grandson Samuel. A dedicated father and caring grandfather, his life philosophy was simple and can be summed up as “do your job, be attentive to your family, and eat well”. It is almost impossible to live a life as well as he did. Samuel is survived by his brother Antonio Alves, Son, Chris Alves and wife Lisa Alves, Daughter Nathalie McClain and husband Kirk McClain, as well as four grandsons, Samuel Alves, Luke McClain, Liam McClain, and Ashton McClain, all of whom he loved with all his heart. Memorial services will be held Friday, April 15, 2016 at 4:00 PM in The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
