Samuel Roy Boleman Jr.'s Obituary
Samuel Roy Boleman,Jr. was born November 25, 1936 in Beaumont Texas to Samuel Roy and Julia Boleman. He died on June 2, 2021. He was preceded by his father, mother, son Christopher Boleman, grandparents Frank and Corinne Kitchens, uncle Frank Kitchens, Jr, of Tyler, and uncle Max
Boleman of Townville SC.
Sam graduated from Tyler High School in 1955 and attended Tyler Jr. College, University of Texas, and graduated from North Texas State University in 1960, with a BA degree in journalism.
He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Upon graduation Sam entered the Air Force where he served on active duty for 6 mo's in a medical unit at Carswell Air Force base and then for 5 years in the reserves and was honorably discharged in 1966.
Sam's professional career began in 1961 when he was employed by Union Carbide Corporation working in sales positions in Dallas, Houston, and Chicago. In 1964 he began a 34 year career with Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. in Dallas. He was transferred to Houston in 1965 as a business lines salesman. In 1973 he was appointed Manager of Liberty's Tulsa Oklahoma office where he served in that capacity until 1977.
In 1977 he was promoted to National Accounts account executive in Dallas where he served until retiring in March of 1999 reaching the position of Assistant VP of National Accounts.
In 1987 Sam was inducted into the Liberty Mutual Sales Hall of Fame in a ceremony at Hilton Head, SC.
Sam was a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano where he served as a deacon, and prior to that he was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church of Richardson. He was ordained at Parkview Baptist Church in Tulsa. Earlier he was a member of Tallowood Baptist Church, Houston.
He was active in Bible Fellowship International for 9 years, serving in leadership as a discussion group leader for three years.
He served on the boards of directors of Prayer Power Ministries, and the Prestonwood Foundation.
Sam is survived by his wife of...years, Kay , son Beau Boleman and wife Tamara and grandchildren Brooks and Avery of Burleson; daughter in law Jennifer Boleman and grandchildren Austin and Taylor Boleman, the children of deceased son Chris Boleman, of Plano, Tx.
Additional family members are cousins Gary and wife Sharon, of Flower Mound, Kim Kitchens of Denton, Aunt, Mildred Kitchens of Tyler, and Anne Ford of Seneca SC., brother-in-law Darrell Neff and wife Barbara of Denison, and daughter-in-law Donna Neff of Denison
