Samuel Edward Cohn's Obituary
Samuel “Sam, the go to man” Edward Cohn, 69, passed away on May 28, 2012 in Dallas,Texas. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Jill, his children: daughter Carey and husband Brian Kint; son Eric, and daughter Erin and husband Jeff Flowers; grandsons, Matthew, Colby and Connor Kint and sister Regina Mullins. Sam played basketball at Clemson University and still bleeds Orange & Purple…Hold that Tiger! Sam was a Vietnam Vet and served in the Air Force flying KC-135 Stratotankers. In 1971, he was hired by a little upstart airline, Southwest Airlines, as one of the original 20 pilots to continue his LUV in the sky. After 30 years, Sam retired as the number 2 pilot and to most is considered a legend there. From his boisterous laugh, to his heart-felt hugs, Sam was a man loved by everyone that crossed his path. His happiness and joy was infectious. He lived his life to the absolute fullest and enjoyed spending his time traveling the world with Jill playing basketball, smacking winners on the tennis court, helping others save on electricity with Ignite/Stream Energy and most importantly spending time with his family. Thank you to everyone that touched Sam’s life and to those that have shown your support to his family. He absolutely treasured his time with each and everyone of you. Sam had great character- so welcoming, generous, and inviting with an energy and enthusiasm that was truly contagious. Family will recieve friends at the Funeral Home Friday June 1, 2012 from 5-7 pm. Services will be at 12:30 pm Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Restland Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Operation Kindness or the charity of your choice.
