Samuel J. E. Marshall II, a very devoted and loving husband, father, brother, and friend……… Sam was born October 17, 1921, in Dallas, Texas, the son of late S. J. E. and Gladys May (Padgette) Marshall Sr. of Dallas, Texas. Sam grew up in Dallas, and was the first of three siblings, which include George Henry Marshall deceased, James (Jim) Dingle Padgette Marshall deceased, and Kathryn May Marshall Thomas deceased. Sam graduated North Dallas High School, and was then employed by DeGolyer – McMaughton Company, Dallas, Texas as a map draftsman. October 12, 1942 Sam enlisted into the Air Force (AAF) assigned to the 17th Air Support Command Squadron. Sam’s military specialty was Cryptographic Technician, he enciphered and deciphered, and encoded and decoded classified messages using all types of cryptographic systems. Sam also handled secret communications and maintained cryptographic files. Sam served with the 7th Tactical Air Communication Squadron in the Philippine Islands, New Guinea, Luzon, and Japan. Decorations and Citations included American Theater Campaign Medal; Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars; Philippine Liberation Medal with 1 Bronze Star; Victory Medal; 3 Overseas Service Bars; 1 Bronze Arrowhead on Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal. Sam enjoyed a very long and successful career with the United States Postal Service. Sam was married to Marjorie Cecilia (Boylson) Marshall on June 29, 1957. Sam is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Diana Marshall of Sachse, Tx.; son and daughter-in-law Kyle and Christy Marshall of Mansfield, Tx.; son and daughter-in-law Pat and Melissa Marshall of Garland, Tx. and son Doug of Tyler,Tx. Sam was also blessed with thirteen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren which were his life, and they were all greatly loved, and cherished by him. They include Shane, Jordan, Brian, Rachel, Nathan, Lauren, Kayla, Angelise, Daniel, Juliana, and Michael. Granddaughter Rena and husband David Trent of Tyler, Tx.; Granddaughter Kelsey and husband Eric Harris of Sachse, Tx. Great grandchildren include Harper Marshall, and Emma Harris. Shane, his oldest grandchild, was a tremendous, and loving caregiver, he was a companion to his grandparents during many challenging times for which we are all very grateful. Sam and Cecilia were long time devoted, and passionate participating members at Sunnyvale First Baptist Church, and very active members in the “JOY Class” (Jesus Others You Class). Sam very much supported, and was actively involved with his sons in all of their activities, including sports and Boy Scouts. One of the few remaining great veterans of WWII received his final orders to report to Heaven on April 17, 2015.
