Samuel David Peeler Sr.'s Obituary
Samuel David Peeler, Sr., age 95, passed peacefully into his heavenly reward on Monday morning, July 13, 2009. He was born July 17, 1913 in Dallas. He was a graduate of Oak Cliff High School and attended evening business classes at SMU. Mr. Peeler retired after more than 40 years of service at Stewart Office Supply Company where he rose to the position of Executive Vice President. He was active in Toastmasters and The Salesmanship Club during his working years. Having accepted Christ at a young age he was baptized and became a charter member of Edgefield Church of Christ where he served many years as a deacon and taught the New Testament Bible Credit course. Later, at Prestoncrest Church of Christ, he served 10 years as an elder. He was a faithful Christian and devoted father until his death. Mr. Peeler was preceded in death by his father and mother, Samuel H. and Elizabeth Peeler of Dallas and a sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Phil Bailey, also of Dallas. Mr. Peeler lost his beloved wife of 56 years, Frances Ellen Ross, in 1995 and is survived by their three children, Samuel David Peeler, Jr. and wife Jeanne of Dallas, Nancy Blanks and husband Leron of Dallas and Kathy Juliano and husband Rick of Austin. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Lisa Pipkin, Jeff Blanks, Libby Oliver, Nancy Hearn, Amy Christie, Benjamin Grant, Daniel Grant and Jonathan Grant. Mr. Peeler had 11 great grandchildren and a surviving niece, Joan Johnson and husband Chuck of Dallas as well as other nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Peeler’s 2nd wife of 12 years, Edris Peeler, passed away earlier this year. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 16th, in the main chapel at Restland Funeral Home with George Bailey officiating and Mr. Peeler’s four grandsons acting as pallbearers. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home.
