Samuel Franklin Shakely Jr.'s Obituary
Samuel Franklin Shakely was born in Greenville, PA on February 23, 1914 to Samuel F. and Blache Shakely. He was the beloved husband of Regina Pidcock Shakely for over 59 years. She preceded him in death. He was the loving and devoted father to Jean Raub and her husband Andy of Dallas, Judy Anderton and her husband Jim of Marietta, GA, and Sam Shakely (preceded him in death) and his wife Brenda of Vero Beach, FL. He was the proud and sweet grandfather to Amy Raub Brown and her husband Chris, Jenny Raub Galvan and her husband Kevin, Brian Anderton and his wife Becky, Jeff Anderton and his wife Ariel and Matt Anderton and his wife Ronda. His adored great-grandchildren are Andrew Brown, Kyle Brown, Kallie Galvan, Lindsey Galvan, Cole Anderton, Isaac Anderton, Abigail Anderton, Nate Anderton and Nick Anderton. He is also survived by his caregiver for the past 6 years, Willie Pearl Hunt, and many friends at Grace Presbyterian Village and elsewhere. He was a man of great faith and a gentle spirit. He served the Presbyterian Church as Deacon and Elder and he was also a Scottish Rite Mason. He graduated from Thiel College, and the University of Tulsa. He was a District Engineer for Carter Oil Company (Chevron), Manager of Production for Anderson Prichard Oil Company, Manager of Production for Texas Pacific Oil Company, Director, Oklahoma Corporation Commission Oil and Gas Division and a consulting Petroleum Engineer. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Caring Fund at Grace Presbyterian Village, 550 East Ann Arbor, Dallas, TX 75216 or the National Parkinson’s Association. Services will be Thursday, October 22, 2009 at noon in the Abbey Chapel at Restland Memorial Park. The family will receive quests on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8PM at Restland.
