Sandra Marie Doxey's Obituary
Sandra Marie Doxey, age 74, who loved to be called “Nana” by her grandchildren, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2022 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was born in Ville Platte, LA. on February 3, 1948 to Joseph and Mary Lou Berzas. She grew up in Ville Platte and lived most of her adult life in Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a BS in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
Sandra was wonderfully devoted to her three children and seven grandchildren. Additionally, many people considered her their surrogate mother. She cared deeply for her family and neighbors. She was the first to offer help and she always ensured that every child who crossed her threshold was safe, healthy and happy.
Later in life Sandra went back to work, where she helped both children and adults with speech disorders.
Sandra is survived by her beloved children Christopher (Tricia) Doxey, Elizabeth (Gregory) Spirt, and Susan (Andrew) Peyret; her grandchildren Robert, Matthew, Sarah, Michael, Kaylee, Addysen, and Austin; and her siblings John (Jackie) Berzas, Deborah (Lee) Boudreaux, Victoria (Harold) Fruge, Mathis (Melanie) Berzas and Dane (Linda) Berzas
A Mass in her honor will be held on Saturday, June 25th at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 708 E Main St, Ville Platte, LA 70586.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Sandra’s name to The Callier Center for Communication Disorders at https://giving.utdallas.edu/CallierCenter or the Alzheimer's Association at http://act.alz.org/goto/SandraDoxey
