Sandra Murleen Hartsell's Obituary
Hartsell, Sandra Murleen passed away on April 16, 2014 at 78 years of age, after a long battle with a neurodegenerative illness. She was born in Aquilla, Texas on January 11, 1936. Sandra is preceded in death by her parents, Wesley Murben Wilcox and Charleen Marie Burleson Wilcox and her husband of 59 years, Bobby Dean Hartsell. Throughout her life, she developed her love of music, and lettered 4 years for the Brazosport High School Acapella Choir. She was an accomplished pianist and would often play the piano and sing with the family, inspiring the love of music in her granddaughters. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice, Sandra enjoyed all kinds of music from country/western to opera to rock throughout her life. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed reading and learning about a variety of topics. She loved gardening and treasured objects of beauty. She loved art and doing all things creative including beautiful crafts, sewing, painting and drawing. She was devoted to her family and was a wonderful homemaker, and was renowned for trip surprises, makeup artistry and tea parties for the granddaughters, holiday treat boxes and incredible home cooking. Her loving hugs, beautiful smile, and nurturing ways will be sorely missed. We all love you “a bushel and a peck, to the moon and back and all the stars in the sky”. Sandra is survived by her son, Brent Hartsell, MD and wife, Barbara; daughters, Jill Hartsell, Rachel McCasland and husband, Randy; four granddaughters, Elizabeth Hartsell, Emily Hartsell, Megan McCasland and Mary McCasland; brother, Gary Wilcox and wife, Barbara. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 21, 2014 at Restland Wildwood Chapel.
