Sandra Gale Horton's Obituary
Sandra Gale Horton, 68, of Dallas, Texas, was called into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, February 2, 2025. Born on October 28, 1956, in Bremen, Indiana, Sandra was raised in Orlando, Florida. She later moved to Texas to attend the University of Texas at Dallas, where she began a new chapter in her life and met the love of her life, Thomas Horton. Sandra was preceded in death by her loving parents, Dale and Norma Godshalk, and her dear younger brother, Brian. She is survived by her devoted husband of 49 years, Thomas Horton; her older sister, Renee Stum; son, Tyler; daughter, Erica, who is married to Chris Duncan; and her five grandchildren, Annabelle, Miles, Molly, Katie and Laura. Sandra dedicated her life to her children, Erica and Tyler, who were her greatest joy. She was a faithful, loving, devoted, and intentional stay-at-home mom who loved the Lord. Sandra spent countless hours volunteering at their schools over the years, attending all of their sporting events, and providing a safe, nurturing space for them at home. In most recent years, her grandchildren were also her greatest joy. Being their Gigi brought boundless happiness to her daily life. A lifelong lover of animals, Sandra had a special place in her heart for dogs, particularly her beloved dog, Tripp. In her spare time, she loved doing puzzles, playing cards, working out, reading and cooking. She also loved visiting the Dallas Arboretum, especially in the spring, when tulips were in full bloom. When she traveled, she enjoyed going to the beach and taking long walks along the ocean’s edge looking for sand dollars and seashells. Her heart was full of love, and she dedicated her life to serving others with kindness, generosity, and a gentle spirit. She had a special place in her heart for Highlands Christian School, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and Shriners Children’s Hospital. Sandra’s selflessness, faith, and joyful energy left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. Sandra will be deeply missed by all who loved her, but we find peace knowing she is now with her Heavenly Father. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and in everyone who was touched by her loving, vibrant presence. Her family will continue to live out her legacy and will choose joy as she would. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” -2 Timothy 4:7 A celebration of Sandra’s life will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at 10:30am at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas.
