Sandra L Metten's Obituary
METTEN, SANDRA LEE passed on to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 28th, 2022 after a hard but valiant struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. While MS impacted a large portion of her adult life, Sandi was known for her quick wit, humor and love of family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Douglas W. Metten; parents Creed and Ruby Taylor of Cocoa Beach, Florida and brother Larry Taylor also of Cocoa Beach, Florida. She is survived by her sons Tracy, Todd and Christian and their respective wives, Denise, Leslie and Robin; six grandchildren that she adored; Tristan, Jastin, Grace, Levi, Maggie and Grant; and her sisters, Deborah Johnson of Florida and Portia Young of South Carolina.
The family offers a special thanks to Sandi’s devoted caregiver, Riches E. Aghedo who was by her side to the very end and to her protector and friend, Chuck Oparaku.
Sandi and Doug supported numerous charities and philanthropic organizations. They took particular pride in starting an educational scholarship foundation at their high school in Nitro, West Virginia for underprivileged students so that college could become a reality. Sandi loved her sons fiercely and was a devoted Grandmother.
Graveside funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Restland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society - Greater Dallas Chapter.
