Sandra Diane Myers' Obituary
THE REMARKABLE LIFE JOURNEY OF SANDRA “SANDI” D. MYERS
On September 17, 1947, Sandra Diane Myers made her bold entrance into the world at Bellevue Hospital in New York City as the first child born to Reginald & Dorothy Myers. She grew up during her early childhood and youth on the Lower East Side of Manhattan with her parents and her beloved sisters Cheryl and Regina. “Sandi” as she was called, made her way through the New York City Public Schools and as she grew up, she developed a passion for communications.
Following her graduation from Washington Irving High School, she pursued her higher education at the University of Denver where she focused on Mass Communications and later attended the University of Santa Monica for additional coursework in their Spiritual Psychology Program.
Sandi began her professional career in the corporate world and displayed her unique skills initially at Xerox Corporation and later at American Express (AMEX) in New York City as a Manager of Employee Relations where she worked as a corporate manager. She was primarily responsible for employee leadership development while creating employee wellness programs for the corporate entities. After fine tuning her skills, she eventually left AMEX and tested the waters as an entrepreneur while launching her consulting firm, Success Matters, Inc.
She relocated to Dallas in 1987 and continued her consulting business until 1995. Because of her corporate business acumen and training skills, she joined the Novations Group Inc., which later became Global Novations Group, as a senior training consultant where she traveled both domestically and internationally to facilitate “Managing Inclusion” which became an industry recognized, cutting edge diversity and inclusion philosophy training program for Fortune 500 companies. Sandi stood out in the industry as she facilitated executive brainstorming sessions and employee focus groups to create understanding of the business rationale for diversity and inclusion and to develop action plans for installing organizational DEI initiatives. She managed and trained the Global Novations internal trainers as well as hundreds of their corporate client trainers. Sandi was a solutions-oriented, accomplished, certified diversity professional with executive coaching and specialized employee relations skills that changed the corporate sector. She was a game changer in the evolving and ever-changing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) landscape. Even though her consulting career kept her busy, Sandi was also committed to helping others and was involved as a volunteer with Big Brothers & Big Sisters as well as a spokesperson for the American Heart Association.
Following an extended illness, Sandi made her heavenly transition on March 7, 2023. Sandi has left an indelible mark on many lives and she will always be remembered for her strength, poise, wisdom, work ethic and her dedication to her community and her family.
