Sandra Lou Maston Poore's Obituary
Sandra Lou Maston Poore, age 70, of Heath, TX passed from this life to her heavenly home on June 25, 2022. Sandy was born in Big Spring, TX on September 1, 1951 to Doyle LaVerne Maston and Neta Lou Tyler Maston. Sandy’s father was an oilfield roughneck and her parents moved to several different locations in West Texas and Southeastern New Mexico before eventually settling in Pecos, TX. Sandy’s brother Darrell entered the family while they were In Pecos. Later the young family moved to San Angelo where another brother, Doyle Maston, Jr., was born. Eventually business brought the family to Garland, TX. The family joined Southside Assembly of God in its early years after they moved to Garland. Sandy worked at a few part-time jobs during high school and eventually ended up working as a checker at Garland’s original Safeway store where she worked part-time until she graduated from high school. She met her future husband Roger at Safeway where he started working In September of 1968. Roger began courting Sandy in early 1969 and continued doing so until Sandy graduated from Garland High in 1969. They both continued working at Safeway on Friday nights and weekends while Sandy was in college at North Texas State (now UNT) and Roger was at UTA. The courtship continued until they both graduated from college. Shortly before Sandy‘s graduation Roger popped the question and, fortunately for him, she accepted his proposal. The couple married at Southside on May 26, 1973 and continued their long life of wedded bliss for 49 wonderful years until Sandy fell sick from a previously undiagnosed Illness and was stolen from Roger’s loving arms way too soon after a brief period of hospitalization and skilled nursing care during which she received many nurturing visits from family and the many friends who knew and loved her. During her long and extremely successful career, Sandy went from working in the catalog sales department at Sears on Ross Avenue in Dallas to a similar position at the Army and Air Force Exchange Service In Dallas
where they recruited her Into the computer programming division and eventually sent her to Germany
to install the first computerized checkout systems at several post and base exchanges. She was then recruited and hired by Mobil in Dallas and sent on similar jobs to London and Paris. She later started her own company, Computer Applications and Systems Services, Inc., so she could continue contract work at Mobil and other International companies until she retired in 2018. After retirement, Sandy worked as a bookkeeper at Southside and helped care for her granddaughter until her illness Interceded. Sandy was a descendant of William Bradford, a Mayflower Pilgrim and Governor of Plymouth Colony, and she was a member of both the Mayflower Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Sandy was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. God and family were always first In her life, and she truly led by example. Sandy is preceded In death by her parents; sister Linda Dian Maston; brother Darrell Maston; several uncles and aunts; sister-in-law Gena Piccolo; and nephew Jeffrey Sullivan. She is survived by her husband Roger Poore; daughter Wesley L. and husband Joe Harris; brother Doyle Maston, Jr.; granddaughter Grace Lynn Wood; sister-in-law Brenda Maston; sister-In-law Anneil Sullivan and husband Dan; brother-in-law Jim Poore and wife Barb; aunt Jeannette Pettit and husband Dwayne; aunt Joanne Carpenter and husband Tommy; niece Anne Magnelll and husband Tony; great niece Alli Magnelli; niece Beth Van Smith and husband Marshall; great nieces Evy, Chloe, Violet, and Tessa Van Smlth; nephews Patrick and Matthew Sullivan; great nephew Brian Van Smith; special family members Kim Feldhaus, Mark H. Wood, Charmaine Wood, and Mark E. Wood as well as several cousins, extended family and friends who will miss her greatly.
The Funeral Service will be on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 2:00pm in the Wildwood Chapel, located within the cemetery at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75243. Viewing and visitation will be the night prior, July 1, 2022 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Restland Funeral Home - 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75243.
