Sara Jane Burkley's Obituary
Sara Jane Burkley, 93, of Nacogdoches, Texas died March 11, 2018. She was born in Waco, Texas on October 7, 1924 to Oscar Elmo Love & Nell Frances (Wagner) Love.After high school, Sara went to secretarial school and began working at Lone Star Gas in Dallas, Texas. In 1946, Sara married the love of her life, Lloyd Burkley. Once she started her family in 1950, she stayed home and raised her boys until they were in high school, then returned to work at Lone Star Gas until her retirement in the late 1980’s.Sara was proud to be an American. She enjoyed all of the patriotic holidays when she would wear her red, white and blue and support her country. Married to a World War II Veteran, she enjoyed traveling with her husband to the Navy Shipman reunions for the USS Suwanee. Sara was a Dallas Cowboys fan and proudly wore her Dallas Cowboys sweatshirts on game days.Sara was an active member of Grace Bible Church in Dallas, Texas until she moved to East Texas to be with family in 2012, at which time she began attending Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Enterprise, Texas.Sara was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Albert Burkley; son, Jeffrey Scott Burkley; and, sister, Maureen Love.She is survived by son, Douglas Craig Burkley & wife Shannon; sister, Jo Ann Langford, grandchildren, Bianca Burkley Medico & husband, John; Ben Burkley & wife, Heather; Allison Honeycutt Young & husband, Chance, Kristen Honeycutt & Kahler Burkley; and 7 great grandchildren.Service will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at 11:30 am, Wildwood Chapel in Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.The family would like to thank Magnolia Court in Nacogdoches, Texas for the wonderful care they provided over the past 6 years, as well as Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Enterprise, Texas for all their prayers and support.
