Sara will be greatly missed by so many. She touched many lives. She was our neighbor for 48 years, we each raised 3 beautiful daughters, borrowed a cup of sugar or an egg and in the last few years, after Joe's passing, we kept check on each other. She was a wonderful friend and neighbor. And she made the best banana bread of anyone I know.

I have the fondest memories of Aunt Sara. Her husband ,my Uncle Joe, (one of my favorites) of my Mothers brothers. Their 3 beautiful daughters ,Jane,Jody and Jill . Who will forever be in my memories of the road trips ,when we would all meet in Pontotoc Mississippi. Every Easter ,to my Granddaddy Huey's and my Mamaw's we would gather. The anticipation of the 3 girls coming to be with my 2 sisters and my self was always something I can remember as being a delightful,happy,exciting time. We were all close in age…and our names..Jane,Jody Jill..Christa,Carla,Candise.I can hear it rolling of the tongues of everyone that would mention us in a complete sentence. We had the best of times. Over the years from Dallas,to Bartlett back to Mississippi. Childhood memories,I will always have in my heart of my Mother,her Parents and her Siblings,and their families.I loved Aunt Sara, she loved my Uncle Joe, Memories of her will forever be in my heart,

Jody, Jill, Jane and the Huey family, Carol and I are so saddened to hear of Sara?s death. Each of you are in our prayers and thoughts. As your mother was my secretary, I am compelled to share some of my thoughts about her. When I was assigned as the Principal at Stults, lucky for me, Sara agreed to continue to serve as the school?s secretary when Dr. Sue Francis, who hired Sara, was assigned to Hamilton Park Pacesetter. Being the practical joker Sara was, those two ladies delighted welcoming me by filling my desk with all kinds of girl stuff. It didn?t take very long for me to realize what a jewel Sara was. She not only had a way with the students, and staff, but with the community also. Everyone felt comfortable in asking Sara for advice and information. She had that sixth sense necessary to be an effective and influential school secretary. Sara informed me one day while we were in my office chatting about family that she always had a hundred dollar bill tucked away in her billfold should I ever need to borrow it. I thought – no way. Well, one day I took her and the other office staff to lunch and when I got ready to pay, I discovered that I left home without my money. Once again, Sara came to my aid. Before the schools got computers, all written communication was by hand. No one could read my horrible handwriting except Sara. Teachers would frequently ask Sara to interpert what I had written to them. Sara and I agreed that when the day to retire came, we were both going out together and after thirteen wonderful years working with her, in 1996 we did it. I could go on and on about this wonderful lady and friend. Sara was a backbone for Stults Road Elementary School and the community it served. I will always cherish the memories and the opportunity I had to be associated with Sara Huey. Mike Thomas
