Sarah Faye Anderson's Obituary
ANDERSON, SARAH FAYE, was born May 6, 1925 on St. Simons Island, Georgia to Wylly and Maggie Kirk. Her mother died when Sarah was 2 years old and her father died when she was nine. She then went to live with two older sisters, who were both married with children of their own, in Columbus. Ga. She lived with the sisters until she met and married Earl Anderson on April 25, 1945. Earl was in the army at the time of their marriage and was discharged from the army in June 1946. They returned to Champaign where Earl finished college, and then went back to Columbus, Georgia where Earl worked in a cotton mill and Sarah worked for a battery manufacturing plant. They left Columbus and went to Rantoul, ILL., where Sarah opened and ran a children’s wear shop and Earl began working in an insurance agency, which he bought after 2 years because the previous owner died. Their son, Mark, was born February 13, 1954. He and his wife Chandra have no children. The family moved to Dallas in July 1964 and Earl went to work for J E. Bush who owned Clearview Jalousy Windows and worked at the Safeway Stores’ division office. Sarah retired from Safeway in 1984 and Earl retired in 1986 from American Coldset, where he had worked for 20 years. Sarah was active at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church teaching children and was a member of the Joy Class after she quit teaching. She also liked to volunteer and taught individuals English as a Second Language and worked in the Food Room at the White Rock Center of Hope for over 15 years. Family visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 pm Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be at 10:00 am Monday, July 2, 2012 at Restland Memorial Chapel with burial at DFW National Cemetery.
